Opening tonight at the Berkeley Street Theatre is the hotly anticipated Beckett Trilogy starring Lisa Dwan. Ms. Dwan gives a powerhouse performance in three of Beckett's final works. The Beckett Trilogy has already thrilled audiences at the Royal Court Theatre and throughout the UK and US. Now it's our turn to see this theatrical milestone for ourselves.
In Not I, a disembodied female mouth floats eight feet above the stage, delivering a stream of consciousness monologue spoken, as Beckett directed, at the speed of thought.
Footfalls features May, a woman wrapped in tattered clothing, pacing back and forth like a metronome, on a strip of bare landing outside her dying mother’s room.
In Rockaby, a woman dressed in an evening gown sits in a chair that seems to rock of its own accord. Recounting moments from her past, she slowly withdraws from the world.
