Congratulations to the COC

Yesterday we got some exciting news from our friends at the Canadian Opera Company

"At the Canadian Opera Company’s Annual General Meeting, COC Board President Tony Arrell reported on the financial and artistic success of the 2012/2013 season, with the company achieving a record-breaking $10.83 million (net) in annual fundraising and posting a modest surplus of $15,000.  The previous annual fundraising record for the COC was $9.9 million and achieved during the 2006/2007 season, at the time of the opening of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts and the Canadian premiere of Wagner’s Ring Cycle."

This is wonderful news and speaks to the health of opera in our City.  The Canadian Opera Company is to be applauded for it's outreach to young audiences and new media.  We have personally felt very welcomed at the COC and are consistently impressed with their captivating productions, accessibility, and creative fundraising like Operanation, which this year featured Ensemble singers performing with the Sam Roberts Band!  Very cool.
